FAQs
What are your current rates/fees for therapy?
My rate for a 55-minute individual therapy session is $150. Due to the current pandemic, I am only meeting clients by video calls.
Appointment fees must be paid in full before the scheduled appointment.
What payment types do you accept?
Payments can be made by e-Transfer for therapy and teletherapy services.
What is your cancelation policy?
I require notice of 24 hours in advance to cancel any appointment. Cancellations that are less than 24 hours’ notice of our scheduled appointment will be billed in full.
Can I claim social work with my insurance policy?
I am a registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers. Counselling/Therapy services provided by a Registered Social Worker (RSW) can be claimed as a medical expense tax deduction when you file your income tax return. So, Registered Social Workers are now authorized as “medical practitioners” for the purpose of claiming medical expenses.
Additionally, if you have benefits or insurance coverage, Registered Social Workers are frequently covered. Check with your insurance provider to find out the details of your coverage. After our appointment, I will provide you with a receipt that can be submitted to your insurance provider for reimbursement.
Do you provide crisis management?
Emergency services are not available. In case of an emergency, clients should dial 911, contact their family doctor, or go to the Emergency department of the nearest hospital.
How do you protect my privacy and what is your confidentialilty policy?
Confidentiality is an essential element in creating a safe and supportive environment in which you feel comfortable to explore your challenges. Your clinical record is strictly confidential and will never be released to any third party without your written consent.
As Registered Social Workers and Registered Psychotherapists, we strictly adhere to the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice outlined by the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers as well as the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.
There are a few situations in which we are legally obliged to break confidentiality in order to protect the safety of a client or another individual. These include:
Risk of harm to self or another person
Suspected child abuse or neglect for a minor under the age of 16 (we are legally obligated to report to Children’s Aid Society under the Child and Family Service Act)
A court of law subpoenas clinical records regarding an incident (if possible, we will contact you before releasing any information).
I use a PHIPA-compliant online video platform for all virtual sessions. Please note that while this platform uses end-to-end encryption that is difficult to breach, no online video communication is considered 100% secure.
