About Me
Tami Hendel (MSW, RSW)
Registered Social Worker
Welcome to Tami Hendel Counseling! My name is Tami Hendel (MSW, RSW) and I’m a Toronto-based social worker specializing in individual therapy for adults. I came to this career later in life driven by my genuine love for helping people. I’m passionate about mental health and helping my clients find peace in their imperfections.
Clients who come to see me are often struggling with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem or trauma. I also provide support to individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) as well as their family members and/or caregivers. I consider it a privilege to do this kind of work and am honoured to get to know my clients and their stories.
My approach is client-centred, collaborative and rooted in the belief that our minds are malleable and capable of change. I understand what it’s like to feel plagued by negative self-talk and am dedicated to helping you accept — even celebrate — who you are while shifting your mindset in a more positive direction.
I received my Master of Social Work from the University of Toronto and am a member in good standing of the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW), the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) and the Canadian ADHD Resource Alliance (CADDRA).
Outside of work I enjoy staying active by riding my stationary bike and going on long walks with my husband and friends. I also relax by listening to music and e-books or curling up with my Kindle. I love hanging out on a patio or in someone’s backyard and spending time with my family.
I know it’s not easy to ask for help when life doesn’t go according to plan. I’m grateful you’re here and hope I can be part of your therapy journey.
