Individual Therapy
Life is full of unexpected obstacles and it’s natural to feel sad, stressed or overwhelmed from time to time. It’s when we feel stuck in patterns of negativity and unable to move forward that it’s time to look for support.
I provide counselling to individuals struggling with their mental health including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem and trauma. My practice draws on a combination of techniques, including CBT, attachment-focused therapy and mindfulness, to understand the causes and triggers of our client's symptoms. With time, clients develop coping strategies to help them manage their symptoms and live a more balanced and peaceful life.
Areas of focus:

Individual Therapy for Anxiety
Do you feel anxious and on edge more often than not? Does your mind race at night preventing you from getting a good night’s sleep? Is constant worry affecting your appetite? If so, you could be suffering from generalized anxiety.
Anxiety can limit your ability to enjoy life, but it doesn’t have to. Therapy can uncover the root of your anxiety so you can identify and acknowledge your emotions and their triggers. Using breathing techniques and self-regulation strategies, you’ll develop a greater sense of safety in your day-to-day routine and learn to harness your worrying thoughts.
Individual Therapy for Depression
Depression can feel all-consuming, like a thick fog that threatens to swallow you whole. It has the power to pull you away from the people you love and the interests you once enjoyed. Depression can make you question your self-worth and your sense of belonging in the world. Depression is a serious mental health disorder. Thankfully, it’s also highly treatable with support from a trusted therapist.
Individual therapy is an important step in processing your depression. By exploring your emotions in a safe environment, we can cultivate your resiliency and dismantle your sense of aloneness so you can enjoy the life you deserve. I will walk with you on your healing journey and collaborate on strategies to help you manage your depression and let go of any shame. Together, we will build a positive connection that allows you to hold yourself with more compassion and grace. Depression doesn’t have to define you; a more peaceful life is possible.
Individual Therapy for Low Self-Esteem
Do you struggle with feeling confident? Is it hard for you to accept compliments from other people? Are you overcome with feelings of unworthiness in your personal life or career? Maybe you suffer from imposter syndrome and don’t feel deserving of your success.
Low self-esteem can creep its way in and take root in our minds and bodies over time. If left unchecked, low self-esteem can affect everything from our health to our relationships and job performance. Thankfully, help is available.
Individual therapy can uncover the root of your low self-esteem and empower you to feel happier with who you are. Confidence and self-acceptance don’t come easy for everyone; therapy can help you hold your head up high.
Individual Therapy for Trauma
Trauma can happen to anyone, anywhere and at any time. Regardless of how far in the past the trauma occurred, it can shape an individual's thoughts, feelings, and actions in the present. Trauma can refer to a profound event, like injury or abuse, or it can be more subtle, like neglect over time.
When someone experiences a trauma, their minds often switch into trauma mode. This response can lead to a variety of mood or behavioural issues including anxiety, anger, insomnia, and depression. It can also cause extreme “fight or flight” responses that may resurface months or even years after the event. There is no single definition of trauma, and everyone responds differently to traumatic experiences.
Help is here for you. Are you ready to take the next step?
Nobody should have to cope with trauma alone. Trauma-informed therapy examines the emotional, physical and social impact of trauma on the individual. You will develop strategies to help you process your lived experience and move through your pain with resilience.
